RULES

A regular season consists of eight (8) weeks: six (6) themed weeks plus two (2) playoff weeks. Teams will meet at the same venue every week of the season. Each week has a specific theme that song selections must adhere to. Themes will be announced ahead of time so teams can prepare. Past themes include Anything Goes!, Songs from the Decade You Were Born, Boy/Girl Bands and Karaoke Roulette. Each city typically has three (3) eight-week seasons a year - Spring, Summer and Fall.

We know not everyone has friends who enjoy karaoke as much as you do. That’s OK! You can register as a “free agent” and be placed on a team by the league manager. Who doesn’t like making new friends?!
If you have friends who want to join you, you can create a team when you register for the season. Teams have a maximum of 8 performers. Creating a team does not guarantee you all 8 spots though. We will make sure to put performers who signed up together on a team but teams are filled first come, first serve until all available spots are taken. Teams that are not filled by the registration deadline date listed may 1) have Free Agents added to their roster or 2) may be merged with another team in the league.

Trust us, Karaoke is not just about singing. It’s about being creative and having fun. You’ll earn votes based on your energy, costumes, props, choreography, or song choice. You definitely don’t have to be “the next American Idol” to be competitive, just have fun! DELETE “ion” at end.

Some teams get together outside of league to rehearse but many do not (and still win). Team members should communicate with each other before the season starts to decide what type of team you want to be (competitive, laid back, etc.). All are acceptable – it all depends on how you want to invest your time.

Voting is only done at the venue on the night of the event using our mobile voting app, found at www.votekaraoke.com. Every week, teams go head-to-head in a random one-to-one matchup with another team for three (3) rounds. Whichever team has the most points after three rounds (two 4-point solo rounds and one 6-point group performance round) NEED TO DISCUSS WITH ISH. wins the matchup. Current registration fees for each season can be found on our league registration pages above. We do offer early bird discounts for registering in advance of set dates before a season begins. Fees go to paying our staff, licensing our song catalog, maintaining our websites and voting system, league swag and other costs associated with running the league. We only offer refunds of registration fees in extenuating circumstances approved by league managers.
