About us
The Regular is a social impact technology startup based in Washington, DC. We help people find communities they can join and connect those community's gatherings to Eatertainment experiences during empty times at local bars, restaurants, and other venues. As those repeat visitors come into businesses we help them engage to turn a higher percentage of them into the most important customer for any business - The Regular. Our leadership team and advisors have held senior product, operations, and community building roles within Salesforce, AWS, Greenpeace USA, Niagara Water, and elsewhere while our Founder Brandolon Barnett is an author and speaker on social impact issues. As such we’re also a social enterprise dedicated to positive impact. All of our Host partners must sponsor a local charity in their community to receive 3% of all membership subscriptions.
About the Role
We’re looking for a hungry and ambitious individual with a desire to help build a startup to join our team and lead our efforts to build out our business development. As our Director of Business Development, you will lead our on the ground efforts to sell Eatertainment events and experiences our B2B customers and their customers love - karaoke nights, trivia nights, social leagues, organized meetups, and more. We need your passion and business development expertise to help us build The Regular brand in our key markets.
Responsibilities
Conduct outreach to prospects in service and hospitality in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Chicago, and other markets as we develop them
Upsell products and services to existing customers
Partner with teams across the business to ensure that expectations set during the sales process are met in delivery
Advise marketing on content and strategies for inbound lead generation
Leverage Hubspot (our CRM) to manage all sales activities
Understand the competitive landscape and determine how to best position The Regular in the market
Tools Available to You
You will not be responsible for sourcing prospects and leads
We will provide AI tools to streamline outreach and your workflows
You will have ample cross-selling opportunities with our existing customers
You will be provided with one-pagers or other materials to assist in your role
Requirements
1+ years of experience in a sourcing or closing sales role, restaurant or bar operations, or a relatable field and industry
Since this is a field position, you must have reliable transportation (will reimburse for mileage)
Strong communication, organizational and presentation skills with the ability to sell and negotiate at all decision-making levels
Proven track record of success in meeting and exceeding goals
Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and team environment
Self-motivated, creative, and flexible
General technical proficiency with software including Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel
Experience with Hubspot CRM is a nice to have

This is a contract role with no benefits, though this may change as we grow. Additionally, while we are revenue generating and growing quickly, we’re still at an early stage. As such, compensation for this role is a combination of equity, small monthly base pay, and commission.

$300 - $500/month base pay with flexible work hours
Total On Target Earnings from commission ranging from $37K - $71K
Guaranteed annual bonus for 50% of more progress to target ranging from $2,500 - $5,000
Total On Target Earnings Range: $63,000 - $122,000
